Boogie Ellis scored 15 of his 21 First-half points, including a deep three-pointer just before the half-time buzzer, but it wasn’t enough to help USC tally 20 turnovers in a 73-66 overtime loss to No. 22 Tennessee in a semifinal Match to overcome in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament held at the Imperial Arena on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
The Volunteers (4-1) benefited from the generosity of the Trojans, scoring 25 points less than the freebies. Six turnovers by the Trojans went into overtime, resulting in a more than two-minute crunch time in which the Trojans (4-2) didn’t even attempt a shot.
Tennessee Five Star Freshman Julian Phillips scored a career-high 25 points. Olivier Nkamhoua was the only other volunteer in double digits, scoring 12 points in 5-on-8 shooting.
