POET receives the SDCF Hometown Hero Award

This paid play is sponsored by POET.

The South Dakota Community Foundation, along with the South Dakota Ag Foundation, presented POET with the Hometown Hero Award.

“It is truly an honor to accept this award on behalf of POET,” said Jeff Broin, POET Founder and CEO. “South Dakota is our home, and agriculture is the backbone of our state and the lifeblood of our business at POET. The South Dakota Community Foundation and South Dakota Ag Foundation recognize our state’s potential and the need to continue investing in the future of our communities and the next generation of farmers, and we are proud to support their work.”

The South Dakota Community Foundation (SDCF) created the Hometown Hero Award as part of their Legacy Society. It is designed to recognize those who support and care for their neighbors and communities and is presented to individuals or organizations that have donated over US$100,000.

“Since 1987, the South Dakota Community Foundation has been privileged to partner with generous people and organizations who have sought to provide better homes for their neighbors,” said Jeff Veltkamp, SDCF development director. “Our hometown heroes play a vital role in fueling the foundation’s growth and allowing us to make an even bigger impact, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome POET to the ranks.”

The South Dakota Ag Foundation is an independent, industry-led nonprofit organization comprised of leaders in the state’s agricultural industry. The Foundation is committed to cultivating a culture of philanthropy and investing in the future of farming in South Dakota through the provision of financial support, development for the future of farming, advocacy and association across the industry, and worksite preservation .

“I’m delighted to congratulate Jeff Broin and express our gratitude to him for living out what it means to be a hometown hero,” said Chris Maxwell, executive director of the SD Ag Foundation. “His passion for agriculture, the work that is done at POET, and her longstanding support of the foundation have been fundamental to our farmers and to the future of agriculture in South Dakota and beyond.”

Partnering with SDCF and the SD Ag Foundation is just one of the many ways POET seeks to make the world a better place and give back to the communities it calls home through its philanthropic program, POET Gives Back.

“POET has and will always strive to be a good neighbor and lead with a servant’s heart,” Broin said. “The South Dakota Community and Ag Foundations are doing important work to make our great state even greater, and I look forward to all that we can accomplish together in the years to come.”
