Perhaps the best opportunity for the Portland Trail Blazers to win in their current four-game journey comes Friday at the New York Knicks.
The Blazers (10-8) lost their first two games of that game in Milwaukee (12-5) and Cleveland (12-6). The Knicks (9-9) aren’t quite on the same level.
For starters, the Knicks are 29th in three-point shooting (31.6%) and 19th in offensive scoring (112.1). So in theory, the Blazers should be able to keep New York at around 110 points after dropping 117 a game in their last three losses. The big trick could be generating offense without Damian Lillard, who is out again with a right calf injury.
Portland’s offense hasn’t clicked lately as revenue issues remain. But the Knicks rank 22nd in defensive standings (114.4), giving the Blazers an opportunity to show some great play offensively.
However it comes about, the Blazers just need a win after losing four straight games and five of their last six. Despite the crash, Blazers coach Chauncey Billiups says the team has remained engaged and focused.
“I think our mood was very good,” Billups told reporters in Cleveland. “Especially in a difficult situation that we are in right now, on a losing streak. For me, those are the times when you learn the most about your boys. if you lose When you have a strong stretch. In contrast, when you win. It’s always fun and easy when you win. So, that’s when you find out about your boys. I like where we are. We scrap. we are positive We stay tuned.”
