Nebraska and Iowa odds, tips and predictions

That Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-8, 2-6 Big Ten) visit Iowa City to compete against the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-4, 5-3) Friday at 4 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below we analyze the lines of Tipico Sportsbook around the Odds between Nebraska and Iowaand do our college football picks and predictions from the experts.

Nebraska is five games down and recently lost to Wisconsin as a 10-point underdog in their home final before their 382nd straight sell-out, 15-14. Wisconsin scored the winning TD by 35 seconds. It’s been a season to forget for the Cornhuskers and AD Trev Alberts and the new coach, whoever he is, have a big project ahead of them.

Iowa has struggled on offense all season. The season got off to a slow start as the Hawkeyes made a 3-4 start. Since then, the team rallied to have 4 straight wins and put themselves in position to win the Big Ten West with a win in that game. Defense has been key for Iowa all season, and it prevailed again with a fumbling recovery and an interception in a 13-10 win in Minnesota last weekend. The Hawkeyes were 2.5 point underdogs and have covered 4 straight games.

Iowa has scored just 151 points for an 18.9 PPG average in Big Ten play, while allowing 136 points for a 17.0 PPG allowable average — and that includes giving up 54 points to No. 2 Ohio State . Iowa plays tight, low-scoring games and this should be another.

Tips and Predictions for Nebraska in Iowa

forecast

Iowa 23, Nebraska 9

money line

HAPPEN.

If Iowa (-435) wins this game, they will meet the winner of Saturday’s Michigan-Ohio State game in the Big Ten Championship Game.

With the Hawkeyes at home and the Cornhuskers basically giving up the season, Iowa will win here, but the -435 price tag is way too high and not worth the risk.

against the spread

BET IOWA -11 (-110).

Nebraska wants to get through this game and get into the offseason. With an offense in shambles, the Huskers won’t find points that are easy to come by. Playing against an elite Iowa defense won’t help either.

Iowa will choke Nebraska. The Hawkeyes surprisingly didn’t have a defensive record against Minnesota on Saturday. You will this week.

TAKE IOWA -11 (-110),

over under

BET UNDER 38.5 (-110).

As previously mentioned, the Hawkeyes averaged 18.9 PPG points in conference play. They averaged 17.4 PPG across all games. Iowa doesn’t have a criminal offense that will scare anyone, but its defense should. Throw out the Ohio State game and the defense allowed 11.7 PPG in the Big Ten game. In their 3 non-conference games, the defense allowed a total of 13 points.

The Hawkeyes will control this game and use field position to win a slow, boring contest. BELOW 38.5 (-110) is my FAVOURITE GAME in this game.
