Why the New England Patriots will win

Take inspiration from the Dallas Cowboys and attack instantly in a variety of areas.

The Cowboys brought Tony Pollard to the linebackers and let him loose in the passing game, Zeke Elliott ran for 42 hard yards and two points, and the defensive front did the rest in the stunning 40-3 win.

New England haven’t been able to rock the running game with just one 100-yard play in their last four, but that needs to change quickly. Damien Harris is back and didn’t do badly in the rotation in the 10-3 win over the Jets and Rhamondre Stevenson needs to be a big part of the pass attack again.

Why the Minnesota Vikings will win

Okay, last week the team got the clunker out of the way.

After a win in one of the biggest NFL regular-season games ever played, the Vikings took the momentum out of the Buffalo game and immediately blew it away against Dallas.

The offensive was dominated, the defense was always a step behind, nothing worked. Those weren’t the Vikings.

New England will wear the game down, but there will be more quick throws to the tight ends – it would help if TJ Hockenson wasn’t trying to catch the line he wears oven mitts – more plays backwards in space and fewer attempts to force it Justin Jefferson down the field.

What will happen

The momentum on both sides will go in the other direction.

The disaster against Dallas will be quickly forgotten as the Vikings score early, and Marcus Jones’ exciting return for a touchdown to beat the Jets will be in the rearview mirror for the Patriots.

It’ll be a defensive fight for a while, but eventually Jefferson will break free with three big catches in the second half to finally open the Viking O.

New England is 0-4 if it concedes 20 points or more. Minnesota has only been kept under 20 twice — by Dallas and Philadelphia.
