Charges brought against 7 Spartans

Charges have been filed against seven Michigan State soccer players for their involvement in a scuffle in the Lloyd Carr Tunnel following Michigan Soccer’s 29-7 victory over MSU in Ann Arbor.

The video showed a handful of Michigan State players separately punching and kicking two Michigan players, later identified as Ja’Den McBurrows and Gemon Green.

After weeks of investigations by the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan Police Department and the Michigan State University Police Department, as well as testimony from witnesses, prosecutors released their findings on Wednesday afternoon.

“Following the altercation between members of the Michigan and Michigan State soccer teams on October 29, the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety and Security (UMDPSS) conducted a thorough investigation into possible criminal liability,” the statement said. “At the conclusion of this investigation, UMDPSS filed a criminal complaint with the district attorney’s office against several individuals – all student-athletes on the Michigan State soccer team.
