Lamm sets the table on Thanksgiving as the Cowboys beat the Giants 28-20
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes to Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliott ran for a goal and the Dallas Cowboys beat the New York Giants 28-20. The win ended a three-part losing streak on the holiday for the Cowboys. Dallas has overtaken the Giants by a game in the NFC East while winning the season series. Rookie Peyton Hendershot ran for a 2-yard TD before directing all three of his close friends into a giant Salvation Army red cauldron for a whac-a-mole celebration. The Giants have lost three of their last four games.
Cowboys TEs play whac-a-mole live to celebrate against Giants
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) – The Dallas Cowboys tight ends performed their own live version of Whac-A-Mole. The unique celebration followed a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 28-20 win over the New York Giants. After rookie Peyton Hendershot scored on a 2-yard sweep, he immediately waved to the other three tight ends on the field to play for one of the Salvation Army’s oversized red kettles in the back of the endzone. These three all jumped in and started banging up and down before Hendershot used the football to hit Ferguson in the head. Ferguson was the one who came up with the idea.

DETROIT (AP) — Tyler Bass scored a tie 45-yard field goal with 2 seconds left and propelled the Buffalo Bills to a 28-25 win over the Detroit Lions Thursday for their second win in five days at Ford Field. Josh Allen set up the crucial kick by starting the drive with a 36-yard pass to Stefon Diggs and running twice for 12 yards. Buffalo has back-to-back victories, a half game ahead of Miami in the AFC East. Buffalo was back in Detroit after the NFL moved its previous home game against Cleveland to Ford Field due to a winter storm.
Neymar injured his right ankle during Brazil’s World Cup win
LUSAIL, Qatar (AP) – Neymar sat crying on the bench and later left the stadium limping with a swollen right ankle after Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia at the World Cup. Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar says Neymar has sprained his ankle. Lasmar says: “There is no test scheduled at the moment but we will schedule it if necessary. He will be under surveillance. We’ll know more tomorrow.” Brazil coach Tite says he is “confident that Neymar will continue playing at the World Cup” but Lasmar says it’s too early to comment on the extent of the injury.
Ronaldo makes World Cup history, Portugal beats Ghana 3-2
DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Cristiano Ronaldo made World Cup history by becoming the first male player in five World Cups to score with his 65th-minute penalty in a 3-2 win over Ghana. Andre Ayew equalized for Ghana eight minutes later but Joao Felix restored Portugal’s lead in the 78th minute and Rafael Leao added a third. Osman Bukari reduced Ghana’s deficit in the 89th round. The 37-year-old Ronaldo has now scored at every World Cup since his first World Cup in 2006. After ending his contract with Manchester United this week, he was keen to show potential new clubs his talent.
Neymar injured, Richarlison scores for Brazil at the World Cup
LUSAIL, Qatar (AP) — Neymar injured his right ankle but Richarlison scored twice to help Brazil lead 2-0 against Serbia in the World Cup. The second came from a spectacular acrobatic kick just before an injured Neymar limped off the field. Richarlison used a touch to get the ball airborne, then spun around and lifted the ground before tossing the ball into the net with his right foot. Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said Neymar had sprained his right ankle but declined to speculate if he would play in the team’s next game against Switzerland on Monday.
White enters and focuses on giving Jets a “fighting chance”.
FLORHAM PARK, NJ (AP) — Mike White has already made it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So, stepping in for a struggling Zach Wilson and trying to spark a stagnant offense doesn’t seem like much of a problem for the New York Jets’ new starting quarterback. White will face Chicago on Sunday just over a year since he briefly became a headline-grabbing folk hero. With fans chanting his name in a win over Cincinnati in October 2021, White set an NFL record for most passes completed in a player’s first start at 37. He says his focus is on beating the Bears and giving the Jets a chance.
Vols’ response to the NCAA: Pruitt, the staff “fooled” the monitors.
Tennessee says former football coach Jeremy Pruitt and nine others who were fired “repeatedly deceived” administrators and compliance officials. The school responded to the NCAA’s Level I charge of failing to oversee the football program with a 108-page filing. Knox News first received the 108-page response on Thursday. Tennessee argues that it is “unrealistic” to expect a university to prevent or promptly detect willful and covert misconduct. Tennessee says compliance officers followed industry standards to oversee the program.
Inflation or not, pro sports team prices continue to rise
Inflation will not harm the bankrolls of sports team owners. In fact, it can help. While the super-rich have to pay a little more for their eggs at the grocery store — just like everyone else — inflation is unlikely to hurt their sports real estate bottom line. Sports business analysts say the added expense of running the teams is like a rounding error for the multi-billion dollar teams. And when the stock market turns sour, sports teams can hold their value better than other investments. There are currently several major professional teams on the market, including English Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool. If the NFL’s Washington Commanders are sold, it could break the record for the highest-ever price for a sports team.
England wary of USA over World Cup excitement
DOHA, Qatar (AP) – England scored six goals in their World Cup opener against Iran, but it was the two conceded that worried coach Gareth Southgate and gave hope to the United States. The tournament has already produced some shocking results, including Saudi Arabia’s win over Argentina and Japan’s excitement over Germany. A USA win over England might not be on the same scale as Saudi Arabia, but against one of the tournament favourites, Gregg Berhalter’s side are undeniably the underdog.
