The deadly Thanksgiving Day fire started around 6:40 p.m. at 723 Overton St.

The fire chief said the victims were a family of three, a mother, father and adult daughter.

The injured victims were taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Authorities said smoke detectors in the unit were allegedly not working, which the fire chief said could have made a big difference.

A neighbor drew the emergency services’ attention to the fire, the fire department said.

Firefighters said one person suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital while the fire destroyed a home in Block 1000 of Hampshire Place in Florence.
