Remember, small business owners are your neighbors. So keep those dollars in the community by shopping ’til you drop on Saturdays.

WASHINGTON — Shop small this Saturday and save big when businesses across the DMV participate in Small Business Saturday.

WUSA9 breaks down where to shop for the best deals in DC, Maryland and Virginia.

From holiday markets to online boutiques with local vendors, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re shopping for yourself or looking for the perfect gift.

Shopping in the district campaign

This website brings together some of the district’s best local small retailers in one place. Launched in 2020, Shop in the District offers a retail directory of stores with the option to filter by neighborhood and other categories.

Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development and the Washington DC Economic Partnership created the campaign to ensure you can support your favorite local businesses from the comfort of your own home.

Launched in 2020, the DC Shop Small website maintains a searchable directory of small businesses across the district by category.

Several stores are offering discounts this year.

Georgetown Small Business Saturday

Georgetown is also participating in Saturday’s promotion by offering over 20 special offers from shops, restaurants, galleries, services and more.

Georgetown is home to over 300 small businesses, including 60% of the business district’s restaurants and retailers.

“They are the heart of this community and this year more than ever they need your support.”

Christmas Market in downtown DC

The 18th annual Downtown Holiday Market, also known as DC’s outdoor shopping village, kicked off the holiday season on Friday, November 18th.

This year’s retail offering features more than 70 exhibitors including black and minority owned businesses from the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development.

Operated by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) and Diverse Markets Management, the market will again occupy two full blocks of F Street NW this year, from 7th Street to 9th Street NW. With its grand main entrance on the sidewalk in front of the National Portrait Gallery.

The village, which is open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., runs until Friday, December 13, 2022.

In addition to shopping, there is live entertainment from local artists.

East Market Main Street

The Holly Days return for the sixth year to support the corporations in the heart of Capitol Hill. Enjoy holiday shopping, dining, lighting and window displays, music and more along Eastern Market Main Street. You can find unique gifts from around the world sold by local small businesses.

The market hall is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 8am to 5pm (closed on Mondays).

The Tenley WinterFest runs from November 26th to December 3rd. It features a Yeti scavenger hunt, Winterfest options, and festive window displays.

Shop small all weekend! The Friday before Small Business Saturday is Frosty Friday in Downtown Frederick. It offers all day shopping, free parking, live music and gifts from the Snowflake Tree.

On Saturday, from 10am to 9pm, visitors can shop at more than 200 locally owned and operated stores.

Robin Hill Farm and Vineyards

On Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., take part in a Small Business Saturday event featuring over 50 local vendors.

There is also live music on site from John Luskey and food trucks The No Sauce Que’ and Pizza Hotline.


Shop Little Weekend in Alexandria

The holiday shopping season in Alexandria begins with Plaid Friday: Alexandria’s Small Business Black Friday on November 25, 2022. Check out at least 50 independent stores offering unique deals.

Then celebrate Small Business Saturday on November 26, 2022 with special offers and discounts from nearly 65 independent boutiques in the Old Town and beyond.

Find garage parking for $5 in Old Town on Saturdays and Sundays and after 5pm on weekdays at the Courthouse Square Garage at 111 S. Pitt Street and the Market Square Garage at 108 N. Fairfax Street.

Celebrate Small Business Saturday in downtown Norfolk

Meet in downtown Norfolk on Saturday for a little shopping.

The Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt in Support of Small Business Saturday begins Saturday, November 26 at 9:00 am with a welcome stop at Old Town Square, 10415 North Street.

At the Welcome Station, visitors can pick up a scavenger hunt map to track down elves throughout the city. There are also small treats, coffee and cocoa to go, free Small Business Saturday bags and more while supplies last until 12 noon

Falls Church Farmers Market

The popular downtown Falls Church market will have special guest vendors on Saturdays. Shop from 8am to 12pm to support local businesses.
