Alabama State Football defeated UAPB at the Turkey Day Classic

The 98th annual Turkey Day Classic ended in heartbreaking fashion for football in the state of Alabama.

The Hornets, 13-0 at halftime, rallied to take a third-quarter lead against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. But Kayvon Britten’s 14-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds left proved crucial in the Golden Lions’ 19-14 win and spoiled the finale of Eddie Robinson Jr.’s first season as ASU coach.

Alabama State (6-5, 4-4 SWAC) ended the season on a two-game losing streak. The Hornets posted a season-high 497 yards of offense but failed to consistently convert it to points throughout the game.

The Golden Lions (3-8, 1-7 SWAC) ended their eight-game losing streak by winning their first game against an FCS opponent this season.
